Who We Are?
Who We Are Biafra Solidarity Foundation (BSF) is a non-profit, apolitical humanitarian organization registered in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. The foundation was established on 29 January 2019 by a group of concerned Biafrans with the sole objective of assisting underprivileged Biafrans whose fundamental human rights have been violated, and those in urgent need of medical and legal support. The idea to establish this humanitarian organization arose in response to the escalating humanitarian crisis in the South-Eastern region of Nigeria, commonly referred to as Biafra. During this period, increasing numbers of individuals and families were subjected to severe human rights abuses, including arbitrary arrests, prolonged detentions, and extrajudicial killings allegedly carried out by state security forces. The majority of the victims were young men and women in their 20s, 30s, and 40s—many of whom were primary breadwinners for their families. Numerous individuals were detained in government prisons and detention facilities without due process, while others reportedly lost their lives in their homes or on the streets. These tragic events left many families devastated, with children becoming fatherless and mothers burdened with the responsibility of survival despite having little or no source of income. As a result, widespread hardship and suffering were inflicted on many communities across Biafraland, with little or no assistance available from either within or outside Nigeria. It was in response to this growing humanitarian need that the establishment of the Biafra Solidarity Foundation became both necessary and inevitable.
Our objectives: The objectives of the Biafra Solidarity Foundation include the following:
To assist underprivileged Biafrans whose human rights have been violated and who are victims of direct or indirect violence.. To provide medical assistance and legal aid to individuals who cannot afford such services.
To offer humanitarian assistance to other Africans facing similar conditions of hardship and vulnerability. To provide educational support and scholarships to qualified students who lack the financial means to further their education.
To render general welfare assistance, including shelter and basic necessities, to the downtrodden and vulnerable members of society. To support victims of abuse by state security personnel and advocate for justice and accountability.
To contribute to improving community safety and resilience in Biafraland in response to ongoing security challenges. To educate the public—especially young people—on the dangers of illegal migration, including crossing the Mediterranean Sea and the Sahara Desert.
To organize seminars, workshops, and symposiums aimed at informing prospective migrants about the risks associated with irregular migration routes. To provide food and essential supplies to underprivileged individuals and families in need.
